January 25, 2018
The mighty Elton John first stepped into the industry in 1963, weaving his way through as a singer, songwriter and composer. Now, some 50 plus years later, he announced his retirement on Wednesday, the 24th of January of 2018. The news was unveiled via a VR180 Live Stream on YouTube. Do not fret, it will not be in effect anytime soon. John’s retirement will only come after he completes a three-year tour around the world, across five continents, with more than 300 shows on the hectic schedule.
Tickets for the aptly titled ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour, go on sale on the 2nd of February. The tour will begin in the U.S. on September 8th, 2018 and will reach its conclusion in 2021.
After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children. – Elton John
