Happening tonight! The super blue blood moon & where to watch it
January 31, 2018
After 152 years, a magnificent lunar spectacle will take place tonight. Described by NASA as a lunar trifecta, the super blue blood moon will take over the night sky at approximately 6 PM. If you are looking to catch the event, here is where to go.
In Fujairah, the east coast is the best spot as you will have an unobstructed view of the horizon.
The Burj Khalifa is great if you are in Dubai; if you cannot make it there, any high rise building should cut it. You can also head to Mushrif Park where the Dubai Astronomy Club has set up a moon-watching event. Seats are limited, so you might want to be early.
You can check out the super blue blood moon from the Al Sadeem Astronomy Observatory in Abu Dhabi. It opens at 6 PM and admission is free, but get there early to ensure you get a great spot to view the event.
If you are in Sharjah, try checking out the Sharjah Centre for Astronomy and Space Sciences. It is free too.
NASA will also be live streaming the eclipse via the moon’s dedicated Twitter account, @NASAMoon. Catch all the action here.
