The Lemon Face Challenge, the new challenge taking over the Internet
April 17, 2018
Social media loves its challenges with a passion. Over the years we have had an array of #challenges like the Kylie Jenner lip challenge, the cinnamon challenge and that really stupid Tide Pod challenge. However, some challenges are not just for entertainment but rather to educate the public about a cause, like the Ice Bucket Challenge which was used to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2014. Now there is a new awareness phenomenon doing rounds, the Lemon Face Challenge to raise funds to combat ‘diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas ‘ (DIPG, a type of brain cancer prevalent in kids ages five to nine).
Here is how the challenge works. People who participate in the challenge eat an entire wedge of lemon and post their best sour faces online, they then nominate someone else to do it. It was launched by 11-year-old Aubreigh Nicholas, who was diagnosed with DIPG in September, for her charity named Aubreigh’s Army. The organization has already raised more than $40,000.
The Heart 107.1 took the challenge and put on their best sour faces for the cause. Watch the video below.
Yes, everyone is doing it! Take a look. Like famous American football coach, Nick Saban.
You can also donate to the cause here.
Now, Heart 107.1 challenges you to show us your best Lemon Face. Post it on social media and tag us @iheartuae.
