Camila Cabello opened the 2019 Grammy Awards with her smash hit “Havana”. The pop star really brought her A game to stage and was joined by Young Thug, Ricky Martin, J Balvin, Arturo Sandoval AND her real-life family for a larger-than-life tribute to Latin music with a small side of politics! And it was one heck of a block party!
I can’t thank you enough @ricky_martin @JBALVIN @youngthug @sandovalarturo1 for coming through to this lil Latin block party. so honored such talented people wanted to be a part of this & it means so much to me 🙏🏼 (PS, can you find the secret message in this pic?) pic.twitter.com/iqoksdwtb3

Keen viewers noted J Balvin was holding a newspaper with the headline reading “Build Bridges Not Walls.” This instantly sparked pride and support from fans across the world.
Interestingly, the performance was inspired by her grandmother who along with the rest of the Cabello family was present at the awards. The Cuban-American singer said, “The performance is based on my grandma’s childhood”, who was raised in collaborative homes which had shared patios, neighborhood jam sessions and a sense of belonging.
