How to Donate Zakat al-Fitr in UAE this Ramadan

Zakat al-Fitr is one of the most gratifying traditions of Ramadan. The charitable donation is given before the Eid al-Fitr prayer and signifies an act of worship and a spiritual duty.
This year, the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE) have fixed the amount of Dhs 20 for Zakat al-Fitr. However, of course more can be given.
How can you give Zakat al-Fitr?
Zakat al Fitr can be given to the UAE Red Crescent or Zakat Fund. The government also has an official website “Zakat Fund” for all your zakat queries. You can calculate your zakat, pay it online and even ask for a fatwa.
When can give Zakat al-Fitr?
It can be given from the first day of Ramadan until the morning of Eid al-Fitr. You can give zakat in cash or the equivalent of it .i.e. rice worth Dhs 20.
Who receives Zakat al-Fitr?
Zakat can be given to the poor, family or friends who are in need or even domestic help.
