UAE to Hold First Mass Wedding That Includes Non-Emiratis!
June 11, 2019
Congratulations are in order!
The first ever mass wedding to include non-Emirates in the UAE will be taking place in Abu Dhabi tomorrow! 10 couples will be tying the knot!
Mass weddings are frequently held in the UAE to help young Emirati couples cut down wedding costs and this year, non-Emiratis have the opportunity to be a part of it. It will also be the first time first time that the mass wedding has two ceremonies- one for the bride and groom each. Previously, only the groom’s family attended the mass wedding.
The ceremonies will be held under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, wife of the UAE Founding Father Sheikh Zayed. The director general of the General Women’s Union, Noura Al Suwaidi, said the mass wedding supports Sheikha Fatima’s vision of spreading happiness and encouraging the younger generation to “form a healthy and stable family.”
“The late Sheikh Zayed launched many initiatives to help the young generation build happy families away from debts and extravagant expenses including organizing collective marriages to reduce wedding costs,” said Ms Al Suwaidi.
The mass wedding covers refreshments, decorations, wedding dresses and make-up for the brides. This will be sponsored by the General Women’s Union and other sponsors.
The mass wedding will take place in Al Mirfa that is on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi city. The men’s ceremony will be held between 4-7 pm and the women’s ceremony will start at 8pm.
Once again, such a beautiful initiative. Bless them.
